please can someone tell me what this old 70s/80s sci fi anime is called??

I remember watching this weird mecha anime, probably from the 70s~80s. They were all a part of a team with spaceships that could form together as a mecha robot, pretty cliche but the transformation animation was pretty sick. The title of the anime had something to do with mecha robots, spaceships and something starting with a g. The main protagonist was just some basic dude with captain harlock-looking black/brown hair and a basic body type like Scott McCloud. There wass 3 other teammates I remember. One was named Oliver who had a pointy nose and curly ginger hair, and this buff tall guy with short black/brown hair and big eyebrows, and despite him being the “tough guy” he was actually usually the damsel in distress. And of course a female character with I think like light brown hair or red hair. she wasn’t that important of a character, mainly just there to have drama with the main protagonist.

as for the art style and animation style, something close to galaxy express 999, captain harlock, star blazers, or captain future.
